Textbook: Required: "Finite Group Theory" by I. Martin Isaacs. Recommended, though certainly not required, is "Groups and Representations" by J.L. Alperin and Rowen B. Bell.

Course Syllabus.
The syllabus will include information about grading policies, exam schedules and policies, etc. You should definitely read it.
Here's an approximate schedule of what we'll be doing this semester. Emphasis on the "approximate".

Homework will be due every two or three weeks or so. Most of the problems will be announced in class, but also reposted here. There will probably be a few problems not announced in class that are posted here, so think of whatever ends up here as the definitive list.

The projects at the end of the semester will be in an as-yet-to-be-determined format - either short presentations or short papers. Regardless, here is a list of possible project topics for you to think about. There are of course lots of other possible topics, just make sure you talk to me before you decide on one.
