I'm James P. (JP) Cossey, an assistant professor in the math
department
of the University of Akron. If you're
looking for the Australian guy who does finite group theory (no
relation), you're in the wrong place.

Research:
My research page is
up.
OFFICE HOURS: Mon 2-3, Tues 1-2, Th 9-10 (the Thursday office hour may be moved). If you
can't make my office hours, but want to meet, email me and we can try to
figure out a time. (Here's my
schedule for this semester.)
Webpages for courses I've taught in the
past.
Here is the LaTeX file for the
presentation I did for the Research methods class on beamer and graphics
in LaTeX. And the actual pdf
slides. (Warning: since I haven't included here some of the
graphics files, the LaTeX file probably won't compile right for you.
But you can look at it to get an idea of how things work.)
Pi Mu Epsilon
Here is the application
form for Pi Mu Epsilon, the honors math society. If you're
interested and eligible, you should definitely join. It's fun. And
sometimes I wear stupid costumes.
ADDED: An observation about honors
societies. And that Facebook group does exist.
RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"Someday son, all this
will be yours."
"What, the webpage?"
"No, not the webpage. The land!"
(With apologies to Monty Python).
THIS WEBPAGE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. Soon it will look cooler. Maybe.
