Students interested in mathematics will be admitted unconditionally to the
University and will be admitted directly to the Buchtel College of Arts and
Sciences if they meet certain academic requirements. These requirements, which
have been established by calling the Office of Admissions, Students admitted
directly will be advised by a faculty member in this college. Undecided
students will be admitted to University College to begin their studies before
deciding on a major and will be advised by an academic adviser in the
University College.
Unconditional Admission
Students interested in mathematics who do not meet the academic requirements
for direct admission but who exceed the requirements for conditional
admission will be admitted unconditionally to the University and will begin
studies in University College. After certain prerequisites are met, students
can apply directly to the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences. Undecided
students will be admitted to University College to begin their studies before
deciding on a major and will be advised by an academic adviser in the
University College.
Conditional Admission
Students admitted conditionally will be those with less than a 2.30 high school
grade-point average and lower than a 16 ACT/650 SAT score with or without the
core curriculum; or less than a 2.80 high school grade-point average and lower
than a 19 ACT/800 SAT score without the core curriculum. Students admitted with
conditions will be required to complete one or more prescriptive activies such
as developmental courses, tutoring, learning labs and workshops, and/or
summer attendance. After certain prerequisites are met, students can apply
directly to the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences.

*Business, computer science, engineering, and natural science majors should take a fourth year of high school mathematics.**Natural science and engineering majors should complete biology, chemistry, physics, and a fourth year of science if available. Nursing students should complete additional credits in mathematics and science.
