Assistantships in Applied Mathematics

Teaching assistantships are available for students who have the appropriate academic credentials and good communication skills. These assistantships are renewable yearly, provided the student has maintained a satisfactory teaching and academic performance. These assistantships generally require no more than twenty hours per week of service involving grading and the supervision of recitation sessions. Advanced graduate teaching assistants may be given responsibility as instructors for certain courses.

Several research assistantships are available. The majority of these research assistantships are reserved for those students who have passed the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination.

Faculty research grants and contracts are another source of research assistantships. These are under the control of the faculty member receiving the grant.
